Activating Mimestream

Activating your subscription license in Mimestream is easy. There are no license keys to keep track of – just use your Mimestream account!

💡 The email used to purchase doesn’t have to be an account used in Mimestream.

For Mimestream 1.9+:

Mimestream 1.9+ supports automatic license activation using your Mimestream Account. To view your subscription license, follow these steps:

  1. Using the top main menu, select Mimestream, then Settings.
  2. Click on the Subscription tab.
  3. Optional: If your license wasn’t automatically found, click Sign in to Mimestream and follow the prompts to sign in to your Mimestream account.

For Mimestream 1.8 and earlier versions:

To activate manually, follow these steps:

  1. Using the top main menu, select Mimestream, then Activation.
  2. Click Activate Existing License.
  3. Optional: If your license wasn’t automatically found, enter the email address you purchased with.
  4. Enter the confirmation code that was emailed to you. If the code is received in Mimestream, it will be automatically filled for you.

If you are using a Mac with Mimestream already installed, click this button to directly go to the activation screen in the app:

Having Trouble Activating?

If you’re having trouble activating, here are some common issues and resolutions:

  1. Just purchased? Purchases usually process instantly, but in some rare cases, it can take an additional 15 minutes. If you haven’t received a welcome email from us yet, wait 15 minutes to receive the welcome email from Mimestream (not the Paddle receipt), and then try activating again.
  2. Used the wrong email? The address you purchased with doesn’t have to be an account you use in Mimestream. From the activation screen, just click Activate Existing License and enter your purchase email there. If Mimestream is automatically finding a purchase, but you still want to manually enter a purchase email, you can hold down the Option key and click this button.

Note: For Mimestream 1.9+, go to the Subscription tab in Mimestream Settings window, click Sign in to Mimestream and follow the instructions.

  3. Typo in your email? If you made a typo in your email address while checking out, you’ll have to contact support@mimestream.com to fix this. Please try to include information, like a screenshot of your confirmation page. We try to process these requests as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that we are on Eastern Time in the United States.
  4. Not receiving activation codes? Please check your spam label or folder to see if the message is there. In some rare cases, forwarding setups can bounce these emails. In this case, it may be necessary to contact support@mimestream.com and request a change of your email address to reliably receive activation code emails.

Note: For Mimestream 1.9+, Activation codes are no longer required. Go to the Subscription tab in Mimestream Settings window, click Sign in to Mimestream and follow the instructions.

License Usage

Your Mimestream subscription license allows for flexible usage!

Background License Refresh

From time to time, the app will automatically refresh the status of your subscription license in the background, in order to handle subscription events (e.g. expiration, cancellation, refund) or changes you made on our portal to your active device list.

These checks are engineered to not interfere with any normal, temporary offline usage. In addition, there are grace periods in place if there’s no network connectivity, or if the activation server is offline.
