Mimestream 1.9 has been released
We’re excited to announce the release of Mimestream 1.9 to all users! This release brings major performance improvements, a new way to get lightning-fast push notifications, modernized account authentication, and full support for macOS 26 Tahoe’s Liquid Glass design language.
Improved performance with adaptive cache management
Mimestream 1.9 ships with a major focus on performance enhancements, resulting in a snappier interface, quicker searches, and a smoother day-to-day experience. In addition, the app more intelligently manages disk space with adaptive cache management, minimizing disk space usage.
Mimestream Private Push (Labs)
Introduced as an opt-in Labs feature, Mimestream Private Push delivers near-instant push notifications for new messages — significantly faster than the default IMAP-based system. It also enables push notifications for users whose organization has disabled IMAP access. To try it out, head to Settings > Advanced and enable Private Push.
Mimestream Private Push was developed with a unique privacy-focused architecture. Unlike most competing solutions, our service does not have access to your Google account nor can it see your message content. Visit our Trust Center to learn more about how it works.
OAuth Login for Mimestream accounts
You use your Mimestream account to manage your subscription, and the app now supports activation by signing in using modern OAuth authentication, rather than one-time code emails. If you’re signing into a Google account, Mimestream can automatically log you in using your Google identity, making login seamless, especially in corporate deployments.
This new Mimestream account authentication infrastructure lays the groundwork for future features we have planned. For example, Mimestream Private Push relies on this infrastructure for secure operation.
Liquid Glass on macOS 26
Mimestream now fully supports macOS 26 Tahoe’s Liquid Glass design language, including a refined app icon that adapts to dark, clear, and tinted themes. Version 1.9 also adds icons in the main menu to match the new system style, along with additional compatibility fixes.
Other improvements
- More configurable swipe actions: Swipe actions now have a configurable secondary action.
- Signature reordering: You can now drag and drop to reorder your Mimestream signatures in Settings.
- Better Send-to-Reminders integration: Sending a Mimestream link to Reminders now includes the email subject, making it easier to create tasks from email.
- Fixed many bugs, improved compatibility with the Gmail API, and adapted to macOS updates.
