Updates to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
We’ve made updates to our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Subprocessors list. These changes were made carefully and thoughtfully to support upcoming features, improve the user experience of existing features. We are deeply committed to building a privacy-first email app - just like before, your email account’s data and access tokens remain on your device.
Additionally, to help organize our documents and communicate our practices and certifications, we’ve launched a new Trust Center with documentation about how the our app and online services work, along with a copy of our security certification.
Privacy Policy
The key changes to our Privacy Policy are:
- OAuth-based authentication with Mimestream Online Services: The app will now use an OAuth-based authentication flow with our Online Services, sending your account’s email address and OIDC identity token. Previously, only hashes of your email address and domain were sent for license lookups. This change provides a more seamless login and activation experience, without requiring a confirmation code to be entered, and supports upcoming features like Mimestream Private Push. As before, our Online Services do not have credentials to access your email account’s data or read your messages.
- Account settings sync: Certain account settings, such as notification preferences, will now be synchronized with our Online Services.
- Clarification: We’ve clarified that our Online Services do not have credentials to access your email account’s data or read your messages.
- Minor corrections for typos, grammar, and consistent terminology.
Terms of Service
Our Terms of Service received the following updates:
- The governing law and jurisdiction changed from the state of Maryland to the state of Florida.
- Minor corrections for typos, grammar, and consistent terminology.
Subprocessors
Our Subprocessors list was updated:
- Removed Front, added Heliom inc. (Missive) for managing support cases.
