(12:00PM EDT, May 22, 2023 – Brooklandville, MD) Today, we’re thrilled to announce the public launch of Mimestream 1.0 from beta!

Mimestream combines the power of macOS with Gmail’s advanced features for a new kind of email client that lets you move through your email effortlessly. Unlike other email clients that use the decades-old IMAP protocol, Mimestream uses the Gmail API for a new kind of lightning-fast experience that’s full of features. Built using the latest technologies from Apple, using Mimestream is a breath of fresh air that you’ll see and feel.

Today’s launch culminates a public beta of over 2 years, with more than 167,000 users joining the beta. During this time, we released 220+ updates, made 2500+ improvements, added 100+ new features, and grew the company from a solo founder to a team of 5. Mimestream is mature, reliable, ready to take on your most serious email workloads, and will continue improving.

Features of Mimestream

On top of the already powerful beta feature-set, Mimestream 1.0 introduces over 10 new features that we’ve been working on over the last few months. For an in-depth look, read about what’s new in Mimestream 1.0.

We believe that this makes Mimestream 1.0 the most powerful native macOS email client for Gmail on the market today. The key features of the app include:

With our 1.0 launch, we’re also introducing over 10 new features that we’ve been working on over the last few months. For an in-depth look, read our What’s new in Mimestream 1.0 post.

Download and pricing

A fully functional 14-day trial is available for download exclusively from our website. After the trial period, pricing for Mimestream is US $49.99/year or $4.99/month (plus tax). In addition, we offer plans for teams and companies to be able to buy multiple seats and pay with just one bill.

During our launch, we are offering 40% off the first year of an annual plan, making it $29.99. This offer is available until June 9th, 2023.

Wrapping up the public beta

If you’ve been a user of our public beta, we’d like to extend our thanks for your feedback and support! Please check your email for a special offer exclusively for beta users. Now that 1.0 is available, the existing public beta will expire on June 1st, 2023, but you will be able to use the 14-day trial in 1.0 (payment information is not requested until the end of the trial).

If you are a user on macOS 11 or 10.15, the existing beta versions you have will continue to work on those OS versions, as previously explained in-app, and outlined on our blog post.

We hope you’ll join us in this next chapter of our journey. However, if this doesn’t make sense for your usage, our alternative recommendation is to use Apple Mail, which is included for free as part of macOS.

Moving forward, we will focus on continuous deployment, and won’t have a separate beta version from our main app. If you want to be the first to try new features and updates, there’s an option to select the latest software updates from the app’s Settings.

What’s next for Mimestream?

For us, Mimestream 1.0 is still just the beginning of our mission to build the best email experience ever made. We’re already hard at work on new features and enhancements, and can’t wait to show you what’s next.

As always, if you have any ideas you’d like to see in the app, we’d love to hear from you – check out our roadmap, where you can vote on existing requests and submit new ideas.
